Thanks for that Katie. I usually go to the service in Cheltenham or Hereford but this year I decided to go to our local service instead. Glad I did and was very happy to see the church so full. I am also happy that we can fly the flag with pride these days.

Is it right to glorify war though? Is it an excuse for a bunch of old guys to flash their medals?

Its not "glorifying war" its remembering guys, and women, who have died so that you can say what you just did. Freedom. Simple word that so many people take for granted. As for flashing medals I was there and I have four medals, but I did not wear them. Not because I was ashamed of them but because some people have, sorry to say, your attitude. Next year I SHALL be wearing them. Can I politely suggested you take a holiday in some African state and poke fun at the millitary. If you dont get killed you can always ask the redcross for help from your prison cell, another bunch of mainly 'old guys' .
